Apparently the Microsoft Marketing Head for Windows Live is leaving precipitately and as yet no replacement has been nominated. Some are seeing this as a part of the changing of the guard as Ray Ozzie moves in and takes over some key functions from Bill Gates. However this may be a case of shooting the messenger.
The Microsoft Brands have been having some identity problems this year. However branding should be seen as a key part of business strategy. If there are problems, then something more fundamental than just changing the marketing spokesman will be needed.
